To Everything There is a Season…

Seasonality is the big topic for today.
 
It is not just in the Bible quote (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) where we learn about seasons. Seasonal weather, clothing, cooking and celebrations are so much a part of our life that we seldom notice it.
 
Unless you are a Marketer, that is.

A good marketer is always aware of what the public is doing because that is where the money is going.
 
So I want you to become more aware of the seasons in your marketing even if you are a beginner- because if you get this right it is very easy to make money.
My first rush of sales as an affiliate was on a Christmas themed site so you can understand why I am so keen on seasonal marketing.
 
In fact you can make so much income from a few seasonal sites that you do not need any other sites.
Let us look at the facts…

Off we go to Google.com then…and we’ll start with an old favourite and put dog training in the search box and click on the search button…google search box

Now click on the Trends link just under the search box…
 
And you see a graph showing the interest in dog training or demand as we call it, against time.
 
google trends search tool showing changes with timeBeing able to see the ups and downs of demand of any thing we like gives us access to a whole new world of information that we don’t get in standard market research tools.
 
It is the world of time and how it pays out in people’s lives and in their shopping.
 
Just think how much shopping is about particular days in the calendar – just look in any diary and find the Bank Holidays.
 
Look in your own diary and check on the birthdays of relatives and friends and then we come to the gigantic global markets with billions of dollars being spent at Valentines Day, Mardis Gras, Halloween, Hannakuh and Christmas.

This gives us a nice big display – rather like a wide screen monitor!

Time to take stock, OK?

 
Dog training is a topic that many Internet marketer pick on to discuss market research. The graph shows 2 things. It shows a downward trend from 2004 till now in 2011.
 
 
It also shows ups and downs during each year and these seasonal trends can be very important for us.

Just after dog training add golf lessons… 
 
 
And this shows a nice peak in the summer months for golf training and a similar seasonal variation in golf lessons.
 
 
Which is what we'd expect, right?
 
 
We finish off this look at Seasonal Marketing with a niche you may not have thought of and when you see the graph you'll be shocked!

This screenshot shows all 3 search terms but the plain fact is that demand for halloween costumes overwhelms the other terms.
 
 
Google Insights allows us to find such amazing surges in demand it allows us to find out where the money is going. It shows where millions of people are following big social and cultural events and spend billions of dollars doing so.
 
 
Seasonal marketing is great for beginners too because it is easier to get traffic and sales!
